I believe that men and women nowadays do not have very different roles in society. Years ago there was a distinct separation between the sexes. Women were kitchen-bound, while men were more responsible for doing work and making money. Mother's would be responsible for raising and taking car of the children while the father's provide money and protection. Now these seperations have gone because men and women both can hold equal jobs and can earn income. Men and women both serve in the military, and there is a more diverse array of lifelong opportunities available to each sex. Men percieve women as naggy, emotional, and dramatic for the most part, while women percieve men as reckless, insensitive, and incoherent. This is basically true on both accounts. Being a man or woman nowadays doesn't really hold any special meanings besides what your gender is. As I said before the seperation between sexes is minimal now to the point that it is down only to looks. Men stereotypes include things such as being violent when participating in various activities, while women are prominently seen as the "sandwhich makers" of the day. In younger generations the same stereotypes go for men as being violent, and the same goes for women.

  1. *Cont* again i think that women are typically thought of as the more needy people in society still, and that men are still seen by women as violent people. Women are seen as the ones who are supposed to cook, clean, and do the laundry. By women men can also be percieved as lazy.

  2. If Carlos were to answer question #12, he would probably respond similarly to this: ay mami why does this bearded charlatan try and impress upon me the need to purchase good looks? I have no need for such things, for I am Carlos, the bull who sires good cows. I do not need good looks, I only need a son who can carry on my name, and like me, sire good bulls and cows.

  3. Gude, I took almost the same view. Yes, back then the distinctions were very prevalent between the gender roles and this distinction certainly has diminished but I do not think they have gone 100%. And yes, I believe this is a very good view of how Carlos would respond. DA BULL CARLOS! But wait, is that a metaphor? Because I do not think they actually have cows, or do they?

  4. I agree that there aren't as many separations between women and men today, however you say women are known as "sandwich makers" nowadays. Sure, that joke is thrown around, but is it true? You are right that back in the day women were responsible for watching the kids, cleaning the house, and preparing meals while the men were responsible for going to work and providing for his family. However, in 2012 women are in the work force and there are actually "stay at home dads" something you wouldn't see back in the day. Women now have the chance to make money for themselves, gain independence, and also can make much more money than men!
